We're a happy little enterprise based in Hackney, East London. Founded in May 2006, we employ local people with learning disabilities – The Chain Gang – who use their skills and talents in making a range of ©Little Gifts of Feeling to make you smile.
The colourful bags (made of locally sourced cotton and ribbon) are sewn by the lovely ladies at HEBA - a social enterprise on Brick Lane providing training to immigrant women to enable them to find employment. When the bags arrive at the studio, the Chain Gang swings into action and the bags are filled with special ingredients, symbolic of the different feelings in the range, which currently includes Happiness, Love, Luck, Strength, Friendship, Lust, Thanks, Celebration and more...
At the moment, 3 lovely ladies from Hackney make up the team - Lindy, Sylvia and Doris. They're supported at work by Magda and Carole from Hackney Recruitment Partnership. Meet them here!
Hansa Bhudia was our very first employee and “Chief of the Chain Gang” – check out her old online diary to see what she and her gang got up to each week. She was an absolute star, who's gone on to bigger and brighter things but she'll always be with us in spirit!
Basically, we aim to make the world a better place, one gift at a time.
